When Mommy dropped the Kayla and Joanie off at school one Friday morning, she was in a terrible rush and forgot all about the permission slips for Zoo day. She was running so late for work that instead of going all the way into their classrooms, she hugged and kissed each one quickly at the door and sent them into the school on their own.
You are in your pajamas. Your teeth are clean. You just heard the end of a story and gave your Mom a hug and kiss goodnight.
It’s time to fall asleep.

Once upon a time there was a little baby star. It was born in a special place called a nebula. There, stardust makes big clouds of hot gases that swirl around and then come together to form stars.
With my feet planted squarely on the deck and both hands firmly gripping the stainless steel rail, I look out at the rolling waves with a mix of giddy anticipation and nervous dread. I’ve had a head cold for the past week which has made just getting out of bed a stomach-lurching activity, so this might not have been the best day to pick for a two-hour whale-watching cruise.

Sometimes we get stuck in a cycle of anger that we can’t get out of on our own. A friend can help us out, even if they are very annoying.
