Okay, I have a beef to pick with parents.
Yes, I recognize that there is variation in the quality of education provided by different schools. Also, I understand that as a parent you want to make the best effort you can to provide your child with the best quality education available.
But, for Pete’s sake, please don’t talk about school ratings in front of kids.
It may seem like there are a million children’s books out there, but there are an even greater number of proposed books that never see the light of day. Thankfully there are publishing professionals who are willing to make those hard choices so that we parents don’t end up reading any of the following to our kids…
I am always on the lookout for websites with good children’s stories, and here is an excellent site that I have found with stories from Japan, translated into English. The stories are cute in and of themselves, and by looking at the themes that repeat most often one gets a sense of what life lessons are most important to the Japanese. Read more
I am 44 years old, and I have never had to change a flat tire. I’ve had three flats on my car and now one on my bike, and every time a stranger appears out of nowhere and jumps right in and changes my tire for me. Does this mean I have the look of a damsel in distress? Read more
When Mommy dropped the Kayla and Joanie off at school one Friday morning, she was in a terrible rush and forgot all about the permission slips for Zoo day. She was running so late for work that instead of going all the way into their classrooms, she hugged and kissed each one quickly at the door and sent them into the school on their own.
